Audrey “Aurelie” Burns, age 91 of Fairfield, passed away Friday, December 6, 2019, at Sunnybrook Assisted Living.
Visitation for family & friends will be 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Thursday, December 12, 2019, Behner Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be 11:00 am, Friday, December 13, 2019, at the First Baptist Church with Pastor John Kermott officiating. After the service, she will be cremated. Burial of remains will be at a later date at Glasgow Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to The First Baptist Church or Hospice Compassus. Cards and memorials can be mailed to: 504 East Fillmore, Fairfield, Iowa 52556.
Aurelie was born on October 7, 1928, in Jefferson County to Lloyd and Lucille (Danielson) Blucher. She married Floyd Lorraine Burns on August 9, 1946 in Nashua, IA. They celebrated 71 years of marriage before he passed away April 9, 2018. To this marriage was born Cheryl, Darrell and Stephen.
Aurelie worked at Hy Vee as a meat wrapper for 17 years. Prior to Hy-Vee she worked in the Parsons College Bookstore. Aurelie made each one of her kids and grandkids a quilt. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Gideon's and Hospital Auxiliary. She will be missed by those who called her mom, grandma, great grandma, aunt and friend.
Left to share Aurelie’s memory are her children, Cheryl Almack of Burlington, IA, Darrell (Barb) Burns of Sheldon, IA and Stephen Burns of Fairfield, IA; 10 grandchildren, Sean Almack, Cynthia (Aaron) Almack-Panvelle, Christopher (Brenda) Almack, Dacia (Chris) O’Connor, Scott (Laurie) Karlson, Kristi Karlson, Kelli (Trevor) Gottola, Jeff Karlson, Seth (April) Burns and Jared (Shana) Burns; 14 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Lucille; her husband, Floyd; one grandchild, Bryce Burns; one great grandchild, Atticus Burns; and two sisters, Agatha Wehrle and Ethelda West.
