Harriet Louise Seip Nelson

Harriet Louise Seip Nelson, age 88 of Libertyville, passed away at her home on Thursday, July 19, 2012.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July24, 2012 at Faith United Methodist Church in Libertyville, with Pastor Peg Ellingson officiating. Burial will be in Fell Cemetery, south of Libertyville.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be made to Faith United Methodist Church. Cards and memorials can be sent to Cindy Dunn at 204 Maplewood Circle, Libertyville, Iowa 52567.

Harriet was born August 31, 1923 in Sigourney, Iowa to William Henry Seip Sr. and Mabel Anna Emma Strohman Seip. She married Frank Nelson in Lancaster, Missouri on November 15, 1941. He passed away March 22, 2003.

She graduated from Sigourney High School. Harriet had been a secretary at the Sheriff’s office in Sigourney, worked at the Ordinance Plant in Burlington, owned Nelson’s Café in Libertyville, been a financial secretary, janitor, played piano for Sunday School and was a Sunday School teacher, Brownie and Girl Scout Leader and a church youth group leader. She was also involved in the Women’s Club in Fairfield and Pitch Club. She enjoyed gardening, ceramics, playing cards, trying new recipes and was a Cubs and Hawkeye fan.

Harriet is survived by 2 children: Cindy Dunn of Libertyville and Arthur Randall (Debbi) Nelson of Davenport, 3 grandchildren: Debi Fritz, Darin Dunn and Dawn Dunn,10 great-grandchildren and 1 sister-in-law: Joyce Seip of Sigourney.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 6 siblings: Sandy Seip, Jim Seip, Shirley Seip, Bud Seip, Carolyn Harkema and Bill Seip and 1 son-in-law: Donald “Doc” Dunn.
