Lucille Ruth Heckenberg, age 86, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Jefferson County Health Center.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2012 at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Medea Saunders officiating. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2012 at Behner Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church or  Lord’s Cupboard. Cards and memorials may be sent to: 603 E. Burlington Apt. # 4 Fairfield, Iowa 52556.

Lucille was born on July 27 1925 in Des Moines County, to Edward and Minnie Taeger Breuer. She married Richard Charles Heckenberg on February 5, 1949 at Latty United Church of Christ. He passed away October 21, 1988.

She had worked at Burlington Glove Factory, Parkview Care Center, cleaned houses and was a homemaker. She was associated with First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Farm Bureau, Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary, Lord’s Cupboard and was a former member of Bethesda Church. She enjoyed working sewing, working in her large garden, volunteering, canning fruit and baking candy, pies and cakes.

Lucille is survived by 4 children: Marilyn (Karl) Henderson of West Burlington, Margery Heckenberg of Fairfield, Craig Heckenberg of Lockridge and Connie (Mike) Ross of Batavia, 1 grandson: Cody Ross of Ames.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and 8 siblings: Alma Breuer, Grace Foster, Laura Beckman, Roy Breuer, Cora Miller, Alfred Breuer, Edith Breuer and Hugh Breuer.
